Overall a solid playthrough that will take you just above 2h, plus there is a final zone you can unlock by getting all the stars (though I did not achieve this). There are different objectives in the different levels, sometimes it was more lineal and you had to find the star at the end sometimes it was more open and you had to find 8 red coins in an open level to spawn the star. Though it is not lineal, it is not as open as in Mario64 since each level only had one star. The progress was similar to Mario64 in that you need stars to unlock the different doors. It is basically a Mario 64 homage, with huge references to other Mario games, Nintendo games and retro games in general. I've played yet another fantastic DOOM 2 mod, DOOM 2: The Golden Souls

This is how the original mod list stands: It's only 4 levels and it already felt too long for me, I can't imagine how much time it would take me to finish all the ~30 levels in the sequel. But I'm not the target audience, so I'll prolly shelve Deus Vult 2. I'm glad that I've tried it, because I got to experience this kind of mod. It features only 2 levels but they are pretty big, though the game won't take longer than an hour for most people.ĭeus Vult is one of those ultra-hard "spawn a million enemies and bosses" type mods, I had to play it on very easy. I later discovered It is based on a webcomic that I hadn't even heard about, so I was kinda lost on what was happening story-wise. In Poharex you play as a T-Rex with magic powers, that was enough to make me download it. Every weapon and enemy feels unique the game is longer and even more importantly features way better level design. The sequel though I feel it surpasses the first one in every aspect. Shrine 2 is (obviously) the sequel to Shrine, a total conversion mod that I played too.
